how i work
I offer a relaxed, comfortable and informal space for you to explore any issues you want to bring to counselling. I practise as an integrative therapist, which means I am able to blend a number of different cognitive, humanistic and psychodynamic models of counselling and therapy into a cohesive whole, offering you a unique and personal therapy.
When I work with a new person, we always begin with an initial session that gives us an opportunity to talk about the issues troubling you. The session also allows us to check that counselling is an appropriate way to work on these issues. If, at the end of this meeting, we decide to work together, we will agree to meet for a small number of sessions (usually four). After that we will review the process on an ongoing basis to check that you are gaining something from our work together.
Some people find they only need a few sessions of talking therapies to gain relief; others require many months or even years. I have experience of working in long, medium and short-term models.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am bound by the BACP's Ethical Framework for Good Practice. I am also a UKRCP registered independent counsellor. You can view my details at www.bacp.co.uk and www.ukrconline.org.uk
